Jukka-Pekka Onnela is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biostatistics, Harvard School of Public Health. He is interested in a broad range of theoretical and applied problems in network science. Onnela's current research focuses on statistical and mathematical analysis and modeling of social networks and their connection to human health; development of metrics and methods for network analysis; network theory; and online social systems and social media. Prior to joining Biostatistics, Onnela spent two years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School. He was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School from 2008 to 2009, and before that held a Junior Research Fellowship at Oxford University for two years. Onnela obtained his doctorate at the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) in 2006, where his dissertation received the Dissertation of the Year Award from the university.
