Alyssa Smith
PhD Student

Alyssa is interested in misinformation spread, community-building, and consensus-making on social media, particularly Twitter. Her current work examines the ways in which narratives unfold and mutate online; she’s also helping out with data engineering work at the Lazer Lab. She holds a bachelors in Humanities and Engineering from MIT, concentrating in Comparative Media Studies and Computer Science, and has worked with the Center for Civic Media, Tumblr, and the Berkman-Klein Center. Before coming to the Lazer Lab, Alyssa worked as a data scientist and a data engineer. In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys baking, powerlifting, and knitting.
